Airtel’s helping hand
∙ As part
of a coordinated effort to bring relief to the flood affected people Airtel has
started free of cost Emergency Alert Service for the customers registered in
the Visitor Location Register (VLR) in the affected districts.
∙ Airtel
calling booths to enable free calling for the victims have been set up along
with three relief camps at ITBP camp in Joshimath of Chamoli district, Phata
and Guptkashi in Rudraprayag district.
∙
Arrangements have been made to inform the victims about the Emergency Helpline
Toll Free number of India Army. Contact numbers of all Govt/Army/Paramilitary
helplines to VLR customers are being provided through ECI SMS.
∙ The
company will give Rs 10 talk-time to its 20,000 customers with a balance less
than Re1. This offer will benefit all the visiting Airtel customers who were in
the four affected districts, including Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and
Tehri Garwhal, between June 14 and 16. Besides, 50 extra Airtel-to-Airtel local
minutes have also been credited to the trapped customers.
∙ The
company is also offering loan talk-time service to the victims with low balance
in affected areas through EOCN and SMS.
∙ Airtel
DTH and trade distributors are organizing a day long langar in Srinagar
distributing food and water.
. The company has
issued an appeal for donation and has decided to set up donation collection
boxes at PAN India offices accepting clothes and blankets to be sent to the
victims.
